On 1st February, 1916, 7th Rifle Brigade of 41 Brigade, 14th Division, moved into the front line trenches at Lancashire Farm in the Ypres salient. The salient was always a dangerous place to be and the next day, 2nd February, 1916, this proved to be the case for Charles Hodges, when he was killed by shell fire. |
